Once we had consulted with the great and wise oracle (www.weather.com), and she had revealed a weekend forecast that looked downright pleasant (highs in the upper 60s and lows around 40 with a small chance of rain), it didn't take much convincing to sell me on the idea. After all, even though I had never packrafted before, it didn't exactly seem like a horrible way to spend a couple days. After discussing our options for destinations, we finally settled on Bear Trap Canyon on the Madison River, about thirty minutes west of Bozeman.
