No, this is not Bob, it's an anonymous BPL staffer pretending to be Bob and showing how the glasses fit.

And this shows a different Numa frame, twisted into a pretzel by one of Bob's slight mishaps, yet still undamaged. The lenses have been removed.

There were probably fifty vendors displaying sunglasses this year at the show. My final choice was the Lo-Pro from Numa Sport Optics. Their wrap-around style provides excellent UV protection from snow-reflected sun, and their slightly curved temples with a grippy rubber surface allow them to be stowed on the brim of Bob's cap when not used and still hug his head well enough to stay on should he become startled by wildlife.

But what really sets the Lo-Pro sun-glasses apart from all the other brands I saw was their extremely flexible frame material. The material makes them virtually unbreakable - an especially important consideration in Bob's case. You can see in the second picture just what you can do with one of the Numa frames - a different one from the first frame. Plus, should Bob still manage to destroy them somehow, Numa provides a low-cost, lifetime replacement guarantee.

Available since Summer, 2007.

Marmot Helium vs. Montbell #1 on 01/28/2008 15:23:59 MST Print View

Wouldn't the Marmot Helium be a better choice at 7 oz less? Or the Helium EQ and save the weight of a bivy sack?

Hi Richard-

The Marmot Helium or Helium EQ certainly would have made a fine choice for Bob's trip. As we plan for Bob to have a 4-season tent, the EQ version shouldn't be needed. As for the standard helium, Marmot apparently didn't have one on display at their booth for photos, so it didn't fit our only-gear-found-at-OR criteria.

Cheers,

-Mike

OK, I'll bite. Even though I'm a summer camper I can manage to use my existing clothing and go for a winter camp trip with Bob. New sleeping bag, Pack, Probe,(I'll borrow a PIEPS from a friend!), plus that cool hat. The cost should be under $750..lets go!

My wife and I have these and am very happy with them. They offer a lot of performance for their weight in full-on winter conditions with an abundance of snow!

It looks like it is available now. They say they will ship from the UK, but it is pricy.
available from canada: $20 + $5

I'm going to show this to my wife. She's tried some similar products, but had a backup problem because of the small spout.
