Overview

Seam Grip Field Repair Kit The essential field repair kit for all types of repairs including tents, sleeping pads, rainwear, backpacks, boots and more. Kit includes two adhesive backed Tenacious Brand pressure-sensitive patches, along with 1/4 ounce tube of Seam Grip Urethane Repair Adhesive & Sealant and brush. Available with black or clear patches.

Directions

Important Surface Prep Information: Clean and dry area to be repaired. Oils, waxes on boots, sunblock and other residue may affect adhesion. Remove residue using Cotol-240™, isopropyl alcohol or solvents such as acetone.

For Best Results: For professional-looking repairs use Seam Grip alone. Repairs using a few drops of water (as described below) are substantially less aesthetic.

To Repair Holes in Self-Inflating Mattresses: Apply the minimum amount of Seam Grip to cover hole and spread ¼ inch (4mm) beyond. Allow to dry level 8 to 12 hours. TO USE PAD SOONER: Technique for small (dime-sized) repairs only. Mix a few drops of water into Seam Grip before applying to hole (or Cotol-240, see above). Apply mixture and allow to cure level for 30 minutes. Center patch and apply over Seam Grip. PATCH MUST EXTEND AT LEAST ½ INCH BEYOND SEAM GRIP AND BOND DIRECTLY AND SOLIDLY TO PAD FABRIC. This minimizes the possibility of Seam Grip seeping out from under patch. Allow patch to remain for 3-4 days, then remove. Seam Grip will create permanent repair.

To Seal Leaking Tent Seams: Seal seam inside tent when practical. Apply Seam Grip to wet or dry seam. Brush under fabric folds and into stitching. Seam should stop leaking immediately. Allow Seam Grip to cure 8 to 12 hours before packing tent. If tent must be used or packed sooner: Dry area, apply patches alone. Patches may be cut into several pieces for maximum coverage. Permanently repair with Seam Grip when convenient.Holes and Tears in Tents and Clothing: Apply patch on outside of item to create removable backing. Apply Seam Grip to other side (interior) and allow to cure level 8 to 12 hours. To use item immediately, Dry damaged area, apply patches alone. Permanently repair damaged area with Seam Grip when convenient.

To Re-attach Boot and Shoe Soles: Clean bonding surfaces with Cotol-240, isopropyl alcohol or stronger solvent if possible. At minimum: clean with soapy water and remove all dust and dirt. Apply generous amount of Seam Grip to interior surfaces and spread with brush. Compress sole to upper. Remove excess with stick. Use patches or other method to hold sole in place 8 to 12 hours. TO USE BOOT SOONER: Mix a few drops of water into Seam Grip before pressing sole to upper. Follow remaining instructions above. Boot will be ready to use in approximately 2-3 hours.

To Re-attach Rands on Boots: Use solvent such as Cotol-240, acetone or isopropyl alcohol to remove waterproofing waxes and similar treatments on bonding surfaces. Buff area with brush to expose untreated leather. Apply Seam Grip and use peel and stick patch to draw rand closed against boot. Allow to cure 8 to 12 hours, remove patch. To Seal or Repair Seams in Boots and Shoes: Clean bonding surfaces with isopropyl alcohol or similar solvent to remove waterproofing waxes. Apply Seam Grip. If necessary, use peel and stick patch to hold separated sections together. Allow to cure 8 to 12 hours. Remove patch.

To Repair Holes in Packs: Apply peel and stick patch to interior surface to create backing. Apply Seam Grip to exterior surface of hole and ¼ inch (4mm) beyond onto undamaged surface. Allow to cure 8 to 12 hours.

To Reinforce Damaged Pack Straps and Gaiter Underfoot Straps: Apply peel and stick patch to create backing. Apply Seam Grip to damaged area and ¼ inch beyond. Allow to cure 8 to 12 hours before use. Once cured, remove patch.
