What happens when I purchase an item that has an "out of stock notification"?

If you purchase an item (or an item option, such as size, color, etc.) that has an out-of-stock notification displayed on its product page, the item will be backordered for you. We make every effort to maintain stock of all of our products, and do not have a policy of having manufacturers drop-ship goods to just so we can get your business.

Stock availability will usually be displayed in the "Availailability" box that can be found below the "Place Your Order Here" box on the product detail page.

Your credit card is charged at the time your order is placed, even for out of stock items. Because of the high incidence of online credit card fraud, the cost of placing special orders, and making sure that our customers receive an adequate supply of products, we can only guarantee delivery to a customer out of our next shipping lot if a pre-purchase is placed.

In some instances, for our most popular products (including bivy sacks, sleeping bags, tarps, and trekking poles), backorders may be held for eight weeks or more.

We will do our best to communicate stock availability through the product detail page. If you have a question about the approximate shipping date of your particular order, and that information is not detailed in the "Availability" box on the product detail page, you are welcome to contact us.
