Thank you for sending such a nice looking product! I can't wait to set it up! The tarp stuffs so tiny, I won't even know I've packed this thing.

How much do I owe you for the additional large stuffsack you included?

Thanks,
Todd

no cost, man, I just thought Id throw that in for you since Im in the holiday spirit. Glad you are happy with the tarp. I can take orders for a few more and have them out before the new year. Just think, your new year resolution can be "sleep under a tarp more often" hehe

any more or larger avail? on 12/19/2007 19:33:19 MST Print View

Hi Andrew,

Great looking tarps! Do you make any larger ones or custom? I'd like either a 6.5 x 9 with two centerline tie-outs about two feet from the end, or an 8 x 10 with 4 off-centerline tie-out loops like what I saw on Oware under flat tarps. Here's a pic of the larger size from their website:
(removed by request)

The interior tie-outs can make a beak or offer other pitching options. If you're interested in making one and have the fabric shoot me a guesstimate on price. Thanks!

Solo Tarp, Sil Nyl Premium style on 02/08/2008 20:13:30 MST Print View

I made a tarp similar to the one at the top of page 1, only this one is 7 feet at the head (pitches w-i-d-e)
9' long, has some bonus features. There are 2 side guy-out points per side, and a nice little glove clip near the head to clip eyeglasses, headlamp, etc...
The stitching on this one is superb. You will not be dissapointed. See the pics..

a few more gray solo tarps on 02/10/2008 18:33:04 MST Print View

if you notice below, that is a full length Prolite 3 in the pic. Using that pic as a guide, you can determine that this tarp might work for 2 in a pinch. at least you can have room for extra gear if you had to. Im not calling it a 2 person tarp but YMMV.
I can still do a few more. they will ship out in order of payment recieved. thanks!

Catenary Cut on 02/10/2008 20:33:42 MST Print View

Just curious how you decided what type of curve to use... I know there are threads that discuss this, but I would be interested in hearing your opinion.

In case it isnt obvious, I think your tarps turned out very well, congratulations.

catenary curve? on 02/11/2008 08:51:40 MST Print View

I only know of parabolic and catenary curves. A program is used to determine proper catenary curves and it is automated once you enter fabric panel dimensions. Im sure you've seen this subject on the web, that is how I made my choice.
you will also note that the tarps have had a $10 increase, this is because there are key features that were not included in the past, specifically,
1)a small glove clip at the head of the user for glasses, ditty bag, headlamp, etc..
2)an extra tie-out added to the side for a total of 10
3)using FIRST quality sil, not seconds.
I will add that Ive shopped around and have not seen a solo sil tarp of this quality offering features such as FREE seam sealing, first quality silnylon, at under 8 ounces for this price. Get 'em while theyre hot!

program for catenary curve on 02/11/2008 10:26:44 MST Print View

Hey Andrew,

What program do you use to calculate the catenary curve? I have been tossing around ideas for a shelter I'd like to sew, but I've been having trouble figuring out the ridgeline curve.

Thanks,
Hiker 816

free spin sacks on 02/11/2008 12:38:27 MST Print View

to the first 3 tarp purchasers, you will get a free spinnaker nylon stuff sack measuring 6x6x12. Great for summer quilts or as a food sack.

Im not going to discuss MYOG in this forum, sorry. Im fairly certain you can find cat curve program info where applicable. thx.

Hi Andrew,

I'm very interested in a tarp, but there have been a couple different models discussed in this thread. For the sake of clarity, could you post the specs on the ones that you're selling right now?

Also, are they long enough for me given that I'm 6'3"?

Thanks!

Dave
