one more gray SOLO TARP - GREAT TARP! on 10/01/2007 17:44:50 MDT Print View

I just received one of Andrew's tarps and put it to test in the field this weekend. It's an excellent tarp made with solid craftsmanship and quality materials.

Thanks a lot Andrew!

Specs for the tarps on 10/01/2007 21:29:21 MDT Print View

6'6" tapering to 4'" and 9ft long, there are 8 tie outs and the weight is 7 oz after seam sealed, depending on how much you use

and Michael, that tarp in the picture is the one you bought! as you can see, I seam seal and field test every tarp before it hits the mailbox. Glad its working for you.

Andrew,

The Tarp/Tent you sold me was 7oz with the stuff sack. I had a chance to try it out this past week at Kings Canyon. I was impressed with the craftsmanship and over all size (being I’m 6'4"). Attached are a few pictures of the actual tarp/tent in use.

Someone PM'ed me and I accidentally deleted it, could that person please re-send it? Many thanks

It seems there is a growing demand for this product and I am trying to keep up with all of your orders!
Someone asked if I am willing to make another tarp for them and the answer is YES. So, if you want a tarp you can request one, just be aware that it takes (at this point) about a week for completion. Shipping is swift, and I'll get the package out on the same or next day after tarps are finished. SO... if you send money, I will keep track of your payment and email you when your tarp is shipped. Is that fair?

Thank you to all who have given positive comments about the tarp. Im happy to assist my fellow hiking brothers and sisters!

Is this tarp big enough to use without a bivy sack?

tarp and no bivy on 10/29/2007 18:36:48 MDT Print View

a tarp just like this one was used by me in the Painted Desert when winds reached 40mph in gusts... i had to "batten" down the hatches, so to speak. Staked directly to the ground all 8 guy points will still give you room to wiggle inside provided your not a very large person. (very large to me is 6 1/2 feet tall and/or over 225 pounds)
I have not used a bivy with a tarp, I dont own a bivy and dont see a need to buy one. About fitting 2 people, I doubt it unless it was an emergency. See above pics for size reference. The sleeping bag is a LONG version since it was used by a tall guy. Nice coverage!

I have one of these tarps, I think. I bought it from Mike. I think you two work together on them? Anyway, maybe you recognize your handiwork in the photo. It's a great tarp, no doubt about that. Very well made and easy to set up. I'm about 5'11" and I find the dimensions just right.

dang Robert! I'd almost forgotten how rocky the Coconino Plateau is. yes, Mike is my partner so that tarp may very well have been made by him, and we have an upcoming website...
details on that later.
Im glad you guys are happy- we've only had g-o-o-d feedbacks so far. paypal to F_howlett@msn.com if interested. only this one left! (for now :) )
