Does anyone have any favorites? I'm just interested to know if anyone on BPL is following blogs from anyone out there?

I very much like Carrot Quinn's blog.

Carrot's blog is - justifiably - very popular.

You might also look at Rocket Llama: She did a "comic novel" version of her 2013 PCT, which is super-cute:

I like several of the suggestions from that thread. I often find better ones from other blog's links. Usually in June you start to get the really golden ones that are sticking around and not getting off trail or stopped blogging.

Frustrating to find good ones and the people get hurt! I play catch-up on them and then enjoy finding good ones over the winter to read. Just like reading a book!

Go read Carrots from last year...then this year's.

Richard - good call! This is my favorite that I've found so far. I like the way she writes, and the attitude that she has about things.

2014 PCT Blogs: Dan Durston? on 05/29/2014 15:53:52 MDT Print View

Does anyone know if Dan Durston (and his wife) are blogging while on the PCT? I haven't seen any mention of Dan on any other blog.

Otherwise, I'm following just a few but will post them later when I can look them up.

I maybe follow one blog per year; sometimes none. This year I have been reading two. Both authors post about once per week.

This year I have been catching Carrot's as mentioned earlier. Really enjoy her sense of humor and honesty.

Also watching BPL member Adam Criswell's blog

I suspect that there might be some stuff on Facebook, Twitter, etc., but I am firmly placed in the last millennium and refuse to partake of that insanity.

Thanks, Nathan. I like Dan (at least his Internet persona) and this should be a good read. Looks long though. Good thing airplanes have Internet these days, it'll give me something to do next week.

Nick - there are probably only about 7 of us left on the planet without a Facebook page. One of the benefits of being a dinosaur is being an embarrassment to my children.

Make that 8 Kathleen.

One PCT journal I've always liked, even though it was from 6 years ago, was written by Gopher. He finished his trip at the end of August, so it's a quicker read than most, and his writing style is pretty good. I thought his information was more useful than a lot of the posts from other thru-hikers. My personal favorite is his June 12 entry hiking with Rapunzel.

Looks like they are all coping with Sierra snow one way or another.

Not a blog but here's a very recent article interviewing Heather "Anish" Anderson who holds the unsupported record currently and her start on the AT figuring out her gear on the trail ...

This isn't a blog, but you may find some blogs that interest you via it... a really cool thing PCTA has put together in my opinion:

Adam, whose blog was mentioned above is a friend of mine and I'm following along with it too. Aside from just checking his recent reports, he's been updating his trail portraits, and his trail selfies, both of which I thought were pretty fun and show the human side of the trek.

Lastly, and this is not so much a blog but just a rolling blog post where I'm updating the progress of two friends and BPL'ers, Adam and Max as they check in from the trail to say hi.
