supplex with DWR; microsuede poly on 07/30/2005 09:11:20 MDT Print View

I ordered some supplex on sale from Seattle fabrics and it came yesterday. One piece has a sort of shiny side. I assume this is the DWR treatment? Should that go on the outside of the garment?

I was surprised at how heavy this supplex was. Does it come in different weights? The stuff I've seen in the past was lighter in weight.

Has anybody used their microsuede polyester to make windpants, shirts, etc?

Supplex does come in many many different weights.

The shinny side is most likely heat calendering. Heat is applied to one or both sides of fabric under pressure I think.

It can add water and wind resistance.

For DIY projects, I suggest checking out They have very the light and quality DWR fabrics.
