I'm looking for any info on the South San Juan Wilderness. Guidebooks, maps, personal info, etc. I'm hoping to do a 7-8 day trip at the end of June - early July.

Pls email me with what you have at

Thx

Reggie

The southern San Juans contain the Colorado Trail and the CDT.

A better place to ask for information might be the CT and CDT forums at Trailforums.com and the CT and CDT forums at Whiteblaze.net.

As far as maps go, I suggest the National Geographic's Trails Illustrated maps, specifically

#141 Telluride, Silverton, Ouray, Lake City
#142 South San Juan Del Norte
#144 Durango, Cortez

The trails illustrated map is great for planning. There are lots of trails/routes but some of the trails aren't used much and don't really exist on the ground. Off trail is easy up on the mesa tops. The CDT section is awesome. It's a great area.
