Vancouver Island BPLers? on 04/01/2014 07:24:22 MDT Print View

I am always on the search for fellow light weight backpackers. Are there any BPL members on (or near) Vancouver Island who are wanting to get out and do a few trips this summer?

When are you planning on hitting up the JdF? I frequent the trail often. makes a good over night hike or a long day hike.

Currently planing on mid week first week of sept. I am not the fastest hiker going and am on vacation so will be planing on taking 3 or maybe 4 days to go through and enjoy it. then taking a break for a day, then start the WCT

3-4 days is good for the JDF. Start late in the day at the south end and walk in a few miles to Mystic Beach. Then camp on Bear and Chin beaches the next two nights. I'd skip camping at Sombrio b/c of the crowds. The next 5-10kms north of Sombrio isn't so great b/c of clear cut logging, but the last 10km is very nice.
