MLD CF Duomid 17.5 oz. $415.00
TR Neoair short 9.0 oz. $90.00
ZPacks CF solo ground sheet 3.2 oz. $95.00
WM Summerlight 21.0 oz. $300.00
MLD Exodus 18.0 oz. 185.00
TOTAL 68.7 oz./4.29 lb./4 lb.,4.7 oz. $1,060.00

For long trail hikes with shelters I substitute a Zpacks Pocket tarp for the Duomid. 5.8 oz. 185.00.

Weights are measured on my scale. Shelters include guy lines, stakes and stuff sack. Four decades ago, my first real pack, a Kelty Tioga, weighed 7 pounds and cost a whopping $75.00. My first real tent was a Sierra Designs Alpine tent that weighed 7 pounds plus. I don't recall the cost. In those times, the big 4 was a big load. We have come a long way. Hike the AT, LT or any National Park and you will frequently see kits and loads that make you ask WHY?

SMD Swift with hipbelt, trimmed
18oz $150 new

Marmot Arroyo
28oz $137 used

RidgeRest short
9oz $30

BA Seedhouse SL1
38oz $150

Total: 5lbs 13oz for $467

For a setup with a hooded sleeping bag and a double wall freestanding shelter, both of which I prefer, it's pretty good weight. I could shed 1lb by getting the Summerlite and Fly Creek Platinum but I'm good.
