What about it?

The "knot" is excessively elaborate in most cases, but Mr. Jones is an enginerd and makes his living thinking about such things.

Canyon anchors like cairns reliably freak out climbers the first few times out, but with a bit of experience you realize the physics are easy to quantify and in your favor.

Well, there ARE two kinds of folks in this world, knot people and those who are not:-)

To the first group ... that knot is simple, elegant and highly functional. To the second group ... it is perfectly opaque.

If you have enough big rocks it will be fine. but like the disclaimers in the vid... what was shown was NOT enough rocks.

In the canyons there are situations where you don't have much choice unless you have a bolt kit...

We go canyoning here in Oz. We have a good sense of fear.

It would be an extreme emergency before I trusted my life to that anchor! Triple the amount of rock piled over it and I might - very cautiously.

There is a reason some of us carry a bolt kit when exploring.
