Matthew is BPL's token conservative and climate change skeptic.

It's always been a dream of mine to ride a camel through the snow. Thank you global warming!

Snow and cold in the desert ... on 12/15/2013 15:53:23 MST Print View

Weather is short term and can get freaky ... while climate is long term (geography and ecology courses) and hopefully doesn't get freaky.A cold front just needs to hit tropical moisture just right to produce a freak desert snow in winter months.... One instance was when I had Thanksgiving leave from Fort Bliss (El Paso on the border). I drove up through northern NM and Colorado with skis and snowshoes trying to find snow unsuccessfully but when returning to the Mexican border, started to get big flakes in las cruces (1/2 hr north of ELP) while the rest of the US had none ....07 or 08. The other question is how long the snow stays around and to what depth?

Another was in a large canvas tent in Kuwait being pummeled by cold rain since it was relatively close to the Persian gulf; in summer, the area was past Phoenix hot. Never been so cold and miserable.. and I've been stationed in Korea and Kansas during winter months!

FIVE YEARS AGO TODAY—
Al Gore predicted the North Polar Ice Cap would be completely ice free in five years. Gore made the prediction to a German audience in 2008. He told them that “the entire North ‘polarized’ cap will disappear in 5 years.” I rest my case.

Al Gore is just a politician, try listening to a scientist Matthew. And not one whose research is payed for by the oil industry.

Do you believe everything you can google?

Ask yourself...by which scientific point of view is there more money to gain to support by science?

It doesn't hurt to use your own brain...

Some other forums have this feature which I think would be great to have here.

Manage foes

Foes are users which will be ignored by default. Posts by these users will not be fully visible. Personal messages from foes are still permitted. Please note that you cannot ignore moderators or administrators.

I'm sure I would be on someones list.

Imagine the possibilities.

Global sea ice is at a 30 year high too.

Global average surface temperature has been in decline since 2001
