OMG... would you guys selling CF gear please please please stop marking down these top-end shelters so much... it makes it soooo hard for the rest of us to sell these top-end shelters without everybody expecting and demanding us to mark them down 40-50% because one or two other people have. (just saying)

ps... totally sucks mark got in on this first, been wanting to try one of these!!

John.. That is actually 27% off of new price.. for a used, albeit slightly, CF mid... and while $650 is a lot of money.. so still is $475.. tho I would have preferred $390 = 40% off :)

I am stoked to have gotten into this at a decent and I believe fair price..

-nice website btw

Are you serious?

I must say I see a lot of used sales with prices being way to high IMO.

^^^This. It isn't really anyone else's business how much someone chooses to sell THEIR property for.

There's a way around it. on 10/20/2013 19:00:08 MDT Print View

The value of the product is what people are willing to pay and what people are willing to sell it for. It's a constant. It's always going to happen unless you're in a communist nation.

Combat it by marketing smarter, following trends, selling intelligently, and ignoring outliers.

Price on 10/20/2013 19:14:04 MDT Print View

I agree with Jason and John. A used item's discount off the original price should be based on it's condition and set by the seller. Not some arbitrary % that someone thinks they should be entitled to because they are buying used. If someone thinks it is too high then they do not have to make an offer... and also should not post negative comments which hurt the seller's chances of making a sale.

Many of us would and do jump at the chance of getting a 20% off deal on a new item. If a used item is "barely" or "lightly" used why would we expect that it should be substantially more than that.

I have learned that there is an element of trust buying and selling on a site like BPL or WHite Blaze and the purpose of a gear swap should be about offering good quality used gear that others can benefit from for a reasonable discount. That way we all have the opportunity to experiment with new gear.

I didn't expect selling an item on gear swap to create controversy!

The mid was used for a handful of trips and is excellent condition. I probably could have sold it for more, but I feel that it was a fair price, considering it was not a "new" item any longer. That's about all there is to it.

Cheers.
