tails? on 10/10/2013 08:21:59 MDT Print View

Just to be totally sure... are they compatible with the modular tails? Older ones are not...

I see these are both sold, but wanted to ask Janos why you thought you needed the tails? I've had LA25s for years, and am not a small person, and have never needed any more than the snowshoe itself.

Snowshoe length on 10/10/2013 15:22:49 MDT Print View

I do a lot of snow camping here in the cascades and I have found that even with my atlas 10x30 snowshoes I can post hole pretty bad in powdery snow. I weigh 215 and with a winter pack I am probably in the 250-260 range easy. I know for a fact that the 25" length would not give me adequate flotation for all my needs.

I weigh about the same, but I think east coast snow is probably wetter, and less float is needed.

Have fun if you bought one of these pair!
