REI has them. I picked up one last year. I abused it, didn't maintain it, let it rust, then returned it for a full refund.

Our Scouts would like that. Especially if they could ride it. :)

If they ever allow those in the backcountry I'm done... won't go to those places.

"Mechanical device... not allowed in Wilderness designated areas"

Cover it with foam and fur so it looks like a llama. Touche.

Can I get lights and a stereo on that? How about a choice of armament?

lol you can cover it in an actual llama it doesn't matter, still a machine and not allowed. Thing looks slow as hell anyway so you won't be making very good time.

Someone has invented a $60,000 horse. That takes gasoline or electrons instead of water and grass.

Of course, the same could have been said about the first automobiles.

Jake D.,
"lol you can cover it in an actual llama it doesn't matter, still a machine and not allowed."

How will they know it's a machine if it looks like a llama?
How can they enforce a law if they cannot detect its violation?

Maybe you just don't think I can put together a realistic looking llama on top of the machine. Well, OK, maybe you are right. Only in science fiction at present. Or is it???!!!

Big Dog and the Mule are work in progress robots designed to eventually be used by the Army.
They are made in one or two prototypes at a time costing millions of dollars so you are not likely to see one on the trail any time soon.
Maybe just after Solar Max you will...

This is a Boston-Dynamics/DARPA project: You're missing a Zero, or Two, per year.

i dunno why you want a crappy slow fake llama when you could have a real llama that is fun and if you're nice Kat could make you a beanie from its fiber. :)
