Our dysfunctional government is stressing me out.

Can someone post something to reassure me?

Turn off the news for a month or so and get caught up on Honey Boo Boo episodes. You may lose some IQ points in the process but it'll bring the stress down.

When I worked in EMS, one of the things we would need to do is establish the patient's level of consciousness. We'd ask them questions that they should be expected to know. I soon realized that asking "who is the President?" was not a good question as I would occasionally meet someone who truly didn't know or care. I then started asking questions like "When is the state fair?"

Initially I was bewildered that someone might not know who the president was but I then realized that the joke's on me. I spend God knows how many hours listening to the news, researching politicians before an election, and trying to stay current for what purpose? "Every vote counts" is complete horseshit. For example, I didn't vote for Romney or Obama in the last election out of protest but it really didn't matter. I live in Washington and for better and for worse, we're a blue state which rubber stamps whatever Democrat happens to be running for whatever position. Sometimes that is good and sometimes that is bad but at a state level, people show up to the polls and check the box next to the D regardless if the candidate is the best suited for the job or not.

The level of energy I spend on current affairs would be better spent on reading a book, taking the kids to a park, or even getting my nails done.

With that being said.... I'm announcing my candidacy for President. You'll see my name next to "Apathy Party."

"We'd ask them questions that they should be expected to know. "

"A recent CNBC poll found more Americans oppose ObamaCare than oppose the Affordable Care Act. But more Americans support ObamaCare than the Affordable Care Act."

and

"Unfortunately, public ignorance is hardly specific to ObamaCare, nor is it merely the stuff of Jay Leno's "Jaywalking" interviews, in which he finds people who think that America declared our independence from Greece and that Winston Churchill was the commander of the Revolutionary Army."

Story here.

Sigh.

What? Ignorance on both sides? No. How could that be?

Edited. I retract my unicorns.

Bucket of sloths relaxed me more than any other response.

Soft kitty brothers looked so similar I couldn't tell them apart. Their mother must have taken fertility drugs.

Bat Dad needs to talk to our reps in Washington DC.

Spelt,

That worked good. I'm all smiles and can feel the endorphins.

Don't recall what I was worried about.

That big cat (mother?)/little cat (baby?) worked especially well.
