Superfeet in Inov-8's? on 06/17/2007 22:37:14 MDT Print View

I have been hiking in Inov-8 Terrocs for a few seasons now and they have worked out pretty good (I also had that weird ankle bone rubbing thing, but it went away once they were broken in). I have been wearing them as is so far, but after a foot problem, I now need more arch support. I have a pair of green Superfeet that do that job well and they are broken in from using them in another pair of shoes. I went on an overnighter with the Superfeet and Terrocs and and I didn't notice any problems.

My question is: Do the Superfeet ruin the benefits of that whole biometrics thing in the Inov-8's?

This is a question I am really interested in hearing some answers to as well. Thanks for bringing it up.

I changed to Inov8; I use the 330s. I use Superfeet in my work shoes. Seems to me putting the two together would prevent most of the natural foot motion the Inov8 shoes are designed to allow.
If you need more arch support, maybe use a soft full-sole arch, or an arch-only insert?
And maybe email Inov8 to see what they say?

Here's a recent thread which eventually addresses this topic:

After wearing the RocLite 315's on a hike I also ordered the Terroc 330's (love the bigger toebox), but a half size larger. . I'm figuring that after several weeks on the trail I may well need that extra 1/2 size since the 315's were a tiny bit snug. Once on the trail with the Inov-8s I, too, would agree that Superfeet would tend to ruin the natural feel and flexability.

I did some more searching and I found this on the Inov-8 website:

"We have a removable shock absorbing underfoot cushion that has excellent memory retention. This can be changed for an orthotic or to achieve a more precise fit as explained in fit and function."

I think I also might shoot them an e-mail.

In May I backpacked 200 miles across the Scottish Highlands in Terrocs with Custom Fit Superfeet without any problems. Whether the Superfeet affect the biomechanics of the Terrocs I don't know but I'm happy to use the two together.

I have a pair of 310's and usually wear orthodics so I emailed inov-8 and they said that for running the shoes wouldn't perform as well with them in but for backpacking
my inserts would not be a problem.

Jessen, what part of east Tennessee are you from? I'd PM you, but you don't have it set up. I am a fellow east Tennessean.
