Get back into the western side of the Sixty Lakes Basin, and it feels more remote.

I don't know Craig. Seems like you should have made the round trip from Lone Pine to Bishop to buy some real bread. Otherwise, another excellent adventure.

Nice one, Craig. That's about as much as a guy could pack into a little over 24 hours. Great pics, too.

BTW, get a used Honda Civic HX if you can find one. They get 42-45 mpg/hwy, depending on how you drive, and are a bare bones simple little car. Just the ticket for your quickie Sierra trips

Short and sweet, very nice.

What was your 'plate' in the sandwich photo?

And what do you carry your veggies in to keep them from getting squished?

thanks.

Have you tried to get into Schaatz's during the middle of the day lately? ;0)

Hey, that's Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Whole Grain Bread there buddy. About the closest thing to edible cardboard money can buy.

The "plate" I'm eating off is the lid to my bear canister.

As to how to pack veggies and fruits...on this trip I had a bear can so there's no real worry about things getting crushed. Otherwise, nothing but mindful arrangement in the pack...and individual baggies for each type in case they bust. I also carried eggs on this trip...Usually I don't have any issues.

Don't ask me, that's what Trader Joe's calls it. I had to look it up.

Ezekiel 4:9 (New International Version):
"Take wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt; put them in a storage jar and use them to make bread for yourself. You are to eat it during the 390 days you lie on your side."

I'm all for barley and beans and such, but can't imagine why I'd be laying on my side for 390 days.

Cool trip Craig. I'm jealous of your ease of Eastside access. It's a 7 hour drive for me so I don't go over there unless I have 3-4 days to spend, and I never get to go over there in the winter.
