I met my husband thru the forums over on BP.com in 2002. He lived on the East Coast, I on the West Coast. He moved out West, and when we first met and started hiking together, I got an eyeful (and earful) of why I should go light. In the years that have gone by, our hiking club has always had more women than men, and a number of relationships have come out of it. One of them is getting married in a couple months also :-D And in that time, going light in our group has gone from the couple fruitcakes to pretty much everyone shedding gear. So it is kind of cool: the guys join up, and meet women who are already far ahead of the curve!
