Unusual (and expensive) item that you consider worth it on 07/24/2013 19:57:15 MDT Print View

I've seen a few threads that are close to this but nothing that was right in this area. If you spurged on an item or thought about it then what would it be?

Packraft. Most I've spent on a single piece of gear and hands down the awesomest.

Sweet Velomobile. Pretty rare bird.

Edit:

My Hilleberg Unna. I wanted an easy to set up and live out of bomber shelter. No regrets.

My first piece of real quality gear bought back in 99. My Western Mountaineering Hooded Aspen with a Pertex shell. Still using it.

petzl nao headlamp. I spend an unusual amount of time hiking/running/skiing in the dark, which makes this light worth its weight & price.

A Large "All Seasons" sleeping pad: 77 x 25 x 2.5 inches at 26oz. A good nights sleep is well worth the cost! Very durable and comfortable.

Expensive? Relatively so I guess. It stung when I swiped the card for the Hexamid twin but when I compare it to commercial shelters, I feel I've ended up with a superior product for the same or less money.

Unusual? Hmmm.... I've got nothing. Time to google "Carbon Fiber Viking Helmets" to round out my kit.

Unusual, yes. 'Spensive, not really on 07/25/2013 11:43:34 MDT Print View

My modded Scarp 2 rates the "unusual" label B/C I'm the only one with those mods - so far.
'Spensive? not so much when compared with Hilleberg tents.

My Olympus TG 1 camera was $400. so that's 'spensive and unusual for its 40 ft. depth waterproofness and very fast settings.
