Don't know if I'm the only one who did not know why we call it Esbit...

Erich Schumm Brennstoff In Tabletten

Translated in English: "Erich Schumm fuel in tablets"

He invented Esbit in 1932

you mean he is in our fuel!?!?!?!

If you look on both sides of World War II, I'm sure that both sides used them, and alot of hardy troops, such as the German elite mountain Gebirgsjager, and the British SAS (After the war from what I know), used them with one of those folding tins, so they could hide survival gear in there. Its a common part of the SAS survival handbook that those guys on TV probably have read over and over.
