Congratulations on a great video! I remember reading your initial description of the project and you mentioning one of your goals was a professional level instructional film. You certainly achieved that. I eagerly await the next episode. Yet another great reason to be a BPL member. Cheers.

This was actually very good. If I can make it all the way through a 10+ minute video, the producers have done something right. A few criticisms:
Making captions yellow instead of white would make them more readable.
I think the Kickstarter funders should have gotten a blurb screen at the beginning instead of just at the end.

I'll be following the rest of the series with interest to see if what I've learned in my first spring/summer packrafting lines up with the recommendations presented. It sounds as though you'll be making direct comparisons of paddling and handling techniques to hard-hull boats, which should be useful information. I'm particularly interested to see if you'll cover boat fitting and modifications, since this is something I don't see talked about much and which I'm still fine-tuning. It has turned out to make a large difference in whether a trip is enjoyable or a shoulder-wrenching slog.

Two suggestions on 07/15/2013 20:05:15 MDT Print View

I doubt I'll ever go packrafting (I hike in southern and central California, where water is hard to find), but the video was nicely done. Congratulations.

Two suggestions:

There's no need for you to wave your arms when addressing the camera; doing so is distracting. You're on for only a few seconds at a stretch, so it's fine to keep your body still.

Don't use "unique," a word that has become contentless. At least don't say "more unique" or "very unique." "Unique" means "one-of-a-kind." A thing can't be more or very one-of-a-kind. It's either one-of-a-kind or not.

I look forward to future episodes.
