Sawyer Squeeze Male-to-Male Adapter on 06/26/2013 15:41:46 MDT Print View

Is there a screw-on male-to-male adapter for the Sawyer Squeeze that allows an Evernew or Sawyer bladder connected to filter's output threads to back-flush?

MYOG Sawyer backflush conversion on 06/26/2013 20:06:05 MDT Print View

I wish I had known about Eric's bottle top at

http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/forums/thread_display.html?forum_thread_id=78861

See my effort at

I have been using this mod for some time since in Australia we don't have the bottle top he has described on his thread.

This has worked quite well for me!
Got it from my parents store. Allows be to take the bottle off the Sawyer with out having to unscrew it. There are 2 caps inside on each side.
Weighs .4oz or 12g.

Thanks Rocco, I approached Sawyer with my idea and they referred to it as a Tornado - never really understood what they were on about. Your gadget can be used to back flush with can it?

Richard, re your avatar. I'd expect a Bear find that amusing...or even a Mary.
Max, any comments??

Hi Andy,

I am visiting family in Australia and read the post for the bottle top backflush system this am.

http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/forums/thread_display.html?forum_thread_id=78861

I went to Coles and picked up 2x 1l bottles of "Cool Ridge" water...exact same top...one fits on the sawyer and I pushed out the blue inner/cut off the lid on the other top which fits on the bladder. Too easy!! BTW the bottles are a real nice size to fit in the side pockets of the pack.

Cheers GC

I lived in New York for ten years and never saw a Bear. Then I moved to the Berkshires for five years and never saw a bear. I don't really desire to meet either.

Theoretically yes, you should be able to use it to back flush. The one time I didn't have it because I left it at a friend's house, my filter was clogged...

It makes a good seal too with out having a washer. I remember it being a lot cheaper in store than online. The big tornado tubes never seemed to work though. The threads were different.
