WTB items -- Womens small rain jacket, Backpack with 30lb carrying capacity.. on 06/25/2013 16:40:36 MDT Print View

Wife will be joining me for the first time, so I need a couple things to accommodate. I have an internal frame pack thats almost 4lbs.

Something in the sub 2.5 lb range for pack is what im looking for.

Jacket should be less than 12oz, size xs/small.

My mom absolutely loves here Osprey Exos 46, she even uses it on dayhikes. Its easily available, light and can carry 30 pounds. However I'd try to keep her under 25 pounds. She probably has less muscle then you so 30 pounds will be a lot more to her then too you. Also remember on the first trip she'll be learning how to adjust the pack and wear it comfortably. Minimize her suffering so she'll come back for more.

For raincoats a Marmot Pricip should work. I have a Northface I bought for $70 that is 11.5 oz and has a nice hood and pit zips. Check Sierratradingpost.com.

Hope you two have fun together.

Thanks, I think I worded my original post wrong.

She won't be carrying much more than 10lbs. Thats the reason I need a backpack that will carry closer to 30lbs, so her load can be lighter.

I already have an internal framed one, but its heavier than I prefer. So if someone has something closer to 2lbs (GG gorilla, etc?), that is what I am looking for.

Oh,so you're your wife's pack mule as well! Do I know the feeling

as for the jacket: http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/forums/thread_display.html?forum_thread_id=69919&skip_to_post=648563#648563

It literally just hangs on the coat rack.I have taken on trail but mostly has stayed in pack.
