Breast feeding top recommendations on 05/22/2013 20:55:06 MDT Print View

I have a 3 month old baby and he's been backpacking 3 times. I am happy with my nursing tanks, and my warm down parka. However, I need something in between that allows for minimal air exposure. The half zips in base layers are not deep enough, and I can't find any lightweight full zips. Recommendations?

Temperatures in Northern California this spring/summer won't get below 40 or so.

Does it have to be a zip? Why not a buttoned shirt?

just for examples.

A Large man's fluffy jacket, and modify the zip to undo from the bottom as well?

Cheers

Have joe at zpacks make one with a drop panel.

He could dress em up to look like breast pockets.

nursing tanks = nursing tank top shirt.
Has nothing to do with war tanks, or other euphemisms that are censored.

If you are looking for full torso zip instead of a quarter zip, look into cycling jerseys. most are half zip, but you can find full torso zipper.

They go up to high XXL men sizes. (not all cyclists look like Lance A.)

and as an added benefit, cycling jerseys have three convenient reachable elastic pockets in the back.

Search REI for keyword: Cycling Jerseys Full Zip.

Nursing tanks are these:
http://maternity.motherhood.com/maternity/Sleeveless-Pull-Down-Nursing-Tank
They have an elastic neck and shoulders so they are easy to pull down.

I tried this on today and it is what I'm looking for but it is very expensive:

Lightweight, hoodie, thumploops, deep zip for easy access.

I like both the cycling jersey and buttondown recommendation, thank you!!

The Columbia women's Super Tamiami long sleeve shirt (linked to above) has snaps, not buttons.

Congratulations on the new baby!
