it is their right to do business as they see fit.

it is also your right to not buy their products because of company policies you disagree with

"it is their right to do business as they see fit."

In light of over 1100 people killed at work, talk of business "rights" sounds completely profane.

It IS their right.

Should they be held to high safety standards? ABSOLUTELY.

However, being told they must pay $500k plus comply, well, that's another thing.

I wonder who collects the money? The Bangladesh government maybe? I wonder whether the workers would ever see 1c.

The program is about safety not salary.

TNF is owned by VF Corporation. $11 billion in revenue.

Ah so.
In that case, why the $500k I wonder?

As usual, media high on cheap emotions and low on substantive details. For those interested in what this accord actually entails, visit the link below:

Sounds awfully, awfully bureaucratic! Kudos to companies for standing up to corporate blackmailing.

Even Ayn Rand's fictional capitalist didn't kill people to make a profit

But then again we have reality.

I do like TNFs corporate goal of sustainability. Doesn't mention people.

In the race to the bottom. TNF is in the lead.
Cheer them on to gold.
