It is a few years old. You are right-I hadn't realized they only sold straight poles now. There is a sleeve along the foot edge of the tarp for the included arch pole. You insert the pole, then stake it down to create the curve you want. I normally just use trekking poles and create an inverted 'v' at the foot end. But, the arch is pretty cool. Looks like an old school tarp tent. There are LOTS of tie-out on this little fella. Lots of options on how to pitch it, so there is no 'right' way. Just depends on the circumstances. It is a huge step up from the basic golite style poncho tarp. Very elegant when set up!
I've never measured it, but I would assume the dimensions are the same. The weight is the same. I'm pretty sure the poles are aluminum-they look like super lightweight tent poles.
