20% off coupons on 03/18/2013 14:42:01 MDT Print View

There were a couple this year and I capitalized on them. That would certainly explain the low amount.

If you have the REI Visa, sales and coupon buys DO count towards your dividend, just at a different rate.

If I told you how much we got this year (came in the mail today) you'd all hate me. We run quite a bit on it/pay off every month. Then every year the husband I fight for who gets it. Last year I got a Double BOB jogger stroller.....so yeah, it can pay off well.

Are the coupons available right now? Can I walk in and ask to use one?

Justin, sort of. It may be up to that store manager's discretion whether or not to honor it early.

I did it today, but it's no guarantee.

unexpected on 03/18/2013 16:04:24 MDT Print View

I got $150.48, I didn't think I spent anywhere near that much last year. I'll probably put that towards Z-Pole Trekking Poles for the girlfriend... so she'll stop playing around adjusting the height of her poles.

Mine is $70, but there is no way I spent 700 dollars last year. Weird...

I wonder if dividends are more than 10% this year. I didn't think I spent $500.

I think they must be more than 10% as I did not spend nearly a grand (I hope)

A fortune of $5.94 awaits me. Descision time.

This is what happens when the closest REI is 3.5 hours away. And the fact they have very little of interest to me anymore.

I've noticed that as well. on 03/18/2013 18:49:26 MDT Print View

I haven't found anything worth buying the last 4 times i've stopped in at REI. I did purchase some fuel today, but that was to use up a gift card.

Spring sale? on 03/18/2013 20:43:51 MDT Print View

When is the big Spring sale, May?

I'm applying my dividend to a new kayak for my daughter but want to wait and see if they put any of the nice boats on sale then.

Enough to cover shipping on 03/18/2013 20:58:14 MDT Print View

Might buy something on the 20% off sale. My dividend should cover the extra shipping charges.

This is the trick... on 03/18/2013 21:13:33 MDT Print View

Buy urban clothing for your significant other at REI for such occasions as birthdays, Christmas and Hallmark inspired holidays.

Then use the dividend to purchase stuff like Dr. Bronners, fuel canisters, white gas, denatured alcohol, DEET, AquaMira, batteries, Tikka headlamp at REI.

Your significant other is happy and your get "free" stuff that the significant doesn't know about.

I call this "WDK" money

- wife don't know.

How do I cash out the dividend?? on 03/18/2013 22:03:19 MDT Print View

Mine is also quite a bit more than I expected, as I really don't buy much there anymore. But...lets say I wanted to take that $106 and put it towards that shiny new stratospire I'm pretending to buy for my dad...

How do I do that?

From REI.com: From July 1 through December 31, you may bring your dividend notice to any REI store and request to receive cash for your remaining dividend. Stores have limited cash on hand; a request to redeem a dividend notice for cash may be handled as a check request at the store's discretion.
