I don't know why they haven't just built in a thermometer years ago?! Would be so easy, and useful.

Thermometers, sure. But how about a solid-state pressure sensor? Everyone gets excited about data downloaded from a few sources to millions of users.

The real advances and power are uploading data from millions to centralized apps. Temp, air pressure, speed (presumably traffic speed), etc. amd the network could become a massive sensor network and weather prediction (among other sciences) would make huge progress.

The barometer could have altimeter features too.
