Go to QiWiz.net, and buy a Big Dig. They're the best and lightest trowels out there.

A SMC snow stake makes a easy trowel; you can wrap the top in extra cord or tape it if you want a "handle". It's multi-use, too, as it can be a strong extra stake.

Ya, looks like QiWiz is only producing the trowels for a limited time so you might want to get on buying on! :)

It's such a low cost item, buy new. You know when you factor in shipping and all. Makes a good add on item. I really like the Montbell trowel. I tried the snowstake approach. But a shovel that is full of holes does not work well in loose soil. I can always deadman the trowel as a stake as well. More comfortable to use and only a tenth of an ounce heavier once you remove the strap.

Watch the edge on the Qwiz trowel. Sharp and can slice your gear if you just shove it in your pack. Careful.

The cheap orange plastic ones work fine too depending on soil types. I've broken too many of them in the concrete we have here.

I much prefer the Suluk46 Ti Trowel.

D'Oh!!! If you meant/mean the old ULA Potty Trowel, than you should have indicated "ULA" and not just a generic potty trowel.



Very very few of the ULA Potty Trowels still floating around these days.


The Suluk46 TICA ICE TOOL E4 is a viable "non rated" ice tool that is available.
