What would be best, water filter or chemicals?

I don't think we should trivialize her death with talks of water treatment.

The body is likely that of a young woman from Vancouver on holiday in LA. Tragic for the woman and her family -- and shocking for the hotel residents. She was only 21.

I would also like to add that folks should stay away from Skid Row hotels in downtown LA. For Vancouverites who are unfamiliar with LA -- picture W. Hastings at night. Except LA Skid Row might actually be worse.

I saw this thread and read the article about the people staying in the hotel where they were showering and drinking water from a source with a dead person in it, and I tried not to comment; with the thought it was maybe too soon to be joking about it. Then it ended up being on my mind all last night, and after some deep consideration I've determined I'd feel best if I was boiling my water.
