That's Jaws, on Maui. It has the characteristic breaking pattern.

I find this picture especially disturbing since I used to kayak off the California coast in a little sit-on-top kayak, and I knew there were whites under me, looking for seals. I did not choose a black kayak.

I believe that is the largest break known....but I think I have seen bigger single waves ridden. If you go to the link, check one of the Riding Giant movie clips. Awesome movie on the topic of big wave surfing.

While Jaws is daunting for sheer size, Teahupoo in Tahiti is for this observer a little more frightening. The way the wave forms a huge tongue of water that seemingly drops at the last second...and with only a foot or so of water over a razor sharp reef spells painful death to me!!!
