I know! Not totally convinced I'm going to like it more than the Avalon, but the wife caught the bug and then talked me into it(which isn't very tough - I'm one of those who always thinks they need the latest & greatest thing). Definitely going to miss the sound of rain hitting the pup canvas and the tent-like feel as well. I will just have to live vicariously through the trip reports on your new blog. Keep 'em coming!

More time with Casey. She's going on 14, slowing down a bit, and her back legs have lost a lot of strength (I cut 6" off the legs of my bed frame so she could still 'hop' up on the bed), but she's still going strong and still follows me all around the house and the yard. Couldn't have asked for anything better.

I'm with Andy. Everyone I know was rotten so I bought no gifts this year either.

Recovery and return to the trails on 12/26/2012 19:46:45 MST Print View

Trekker Dave

After tearing a hip muscle,hyper-extending my knee and tearing my rotator cuff on a backpacking trip this past August, Santa brought me knowledgeable physical therapists and orthopedic surgeons and now hopefully a successful shoulder surgery and quick recovery in the new year...I have two backpacking trips planned for the Summer! :-)

Great picture Dave!

For Christmas I received a food dehydrator, 5 pairs of darn tough socks, and a couple gift cards for our local outdoor store.

As a late birthday gift showing up on Christmas Eve, I received my 40 degree revelation X quilt from enlightened equipment.

I'm feeling pretty spoiled right now

Hi Dave
You MUST print that shot and put it up on a wall.

Best present son, a US Marine, home for Christmas before deploying to Afghanistan!

And thanks to fellow BPL'er Stephen Barber, he had a wicked K-Bar under the tree to take with him. Thanks, again, Stephen!

New Quilt! on 12/26/2012 23:06:16 MST Print View

I got my choice of either:

1. 70" wide long length Revelation X
2. JRB MtRogers quilt with wings

Any advice? It's for me and my girl for 20F or better weather.

EDIT: After reading the thread about the RevX, I sent Tim a message to order one. Yay, new quilt!

Santa brought me 750 ml. of Aberlour 18 year old single malt Scotch whiskey.

THAT will properly christen my new, impulse-bought, hip flask.

Ski season will now have a decided "glow" to it.

GG LightTrek 4 poles

Caldera Cone Tri-Ti for a .9L shorty Evernew pot.

Now I just need a .9L shorty Evernew pot. :)

Does anyone know if a 12-10 stove will fit in that pot if the priming flange is cut off?

Three pairs of Smartwool medium weight socks.
A pair of REI light weight fleece pants.
An extrememley heavy brass compass in a rosewood case.

Yea, probably not packing that last item, but it was given with love and it's inspirational to look at here on my windowsill... at least while i still have a windowsill. ;)
