In the French & Indian War Maj. Robert Rodgers and his Rangers attacked a French & Indian settlement and escaped by strapping ice skates to their shoes and skating south down Lake Champlain.

Guess that's the first example of their motto, "Rangers lead the way!"

Bet the French & Indians were furious.
