My fiancee is looking for rain mittens for backpacking. We haven't been able to find anything in women's sizes (her hands are small). Any suggestions?

You could look at the ZPacks rain mitts. They are a bit smaller than my MLD rain mitts. Also, if you email ZPacks first, they may be able to make them a bit more custom.

My Mountain Laurel Designs eVent rain mitts work just fine for me. I wear them over my Smartwool liner gloves and (in really cold weather) fleece mittens. You really don't want to wear them over bare hands!

not to start a cottage war - MLD are eVent which means much more durable and prob more breathable than the WPB CF

I also would consider sizing up (especially for girls) since cold=> liner glove +insulation golve (eg wool) +rain mitt

I usually wear women's medium gloves, and the MLD mitts (in medium) are a bit larger than I would like, but not much. I just got them recently so haven't used them yet, but most of the time I will wear them over mittens and I think they will work fine for me.

my wife and I took our 9 and 10 year old daughters on the JMT this summer and needed rain mitts for them. My wife and I use ZPacks rain mitts and we contacted Joe to see whether he would make special mitts for our girls. He was willing to try. We sent him a piece of paper where we traced the hands of our daughters with a pen and he made special rain mitts for them from that drawing. He made them roomy, so the girls could wear liner gloves inside, but made sure that they are not too big for their tiny hands and thumbs.
It rained a lot on the JMT this summer and our girls were very happy to have their rain mitts.
