Looking for cold hardy backpackers for a weekend in December. I can do 12/8-9, 12/15-16 or 12/29-30. Could also add Friday to those weekends if there's interest.
Hmmm.... Where in Mn.
Burr. Minnesota in December is why my parents moved from there to Arizona in the early 1960's.
Jim,I'd be interested in backpacking on any of those weekends. As for trip ideas maybe the southern ends North Country Trail (MN or WI), the Superior National Forest (MN), or the good old Superior Hiking Trail (MN)?
I'm interested in the later part of December.
I'm planning on going out the weekend of December 7th through the 9th if anyone is interested.I was thinking of doing the Superior Hiking Trail around Split Rock State Park. I figured that Friday night would be spent at the park. Saturday would be around 10 miles and Sunday could be a nice easy day with less than a mile to the nearest trail head. That way people from out of town could get an earlyish start home. Also then we could all have a warm breakfast in Silver Bay!Anyone interested?
I'm interested in trying to get out a bit more this winter - I'm not sure yet if the 7-9th will work. Either way, I'd love to get a couple of winter trips lined up. Matt
If you guys do go post pictures cause all my gear is put away until Spring.
Hey Matt!Just let me know when you're able to get out for a trip and chances are I'll be free (the joys of being self employed).Due to a warm spell the North Shore has less than four inches of snow but more is on the way next week.I'm on the fence about the trip this weekend due to the low snow depth. If I can't find anyone that wants to come with I think I'll hold out for more snow.
Hey Chad - PM sent. matt
Silly me for thinking my December life was wide open. The dust hasn't settled since I started this thread and the rest of the month looks worse. But at least I stirred up a short list of suspects for the future:-)Matt and Chad, I hope youse guys can work something out. It'll be good to hear about it if you do.
