I just heard that on NPR

Some chemical binds with the poison ivy active ingredient. Then they attached a chemical that flouresces to that so it flouresces when poison ivy present.

In which case you use Technu to neutralize it.

Hasn't been tested for safety so you can only use it on tools or whatever right now. I don't think it's commercially available yet.

Some day it will be safety tested and available.

Meh. Interesting chemistry experiment but I wouldn't say poison ivy solved. Most of the time I get poison ivy, its straight off the plant. I either don't see the plant or there's so much that I can't really avoid it.
