Hello everyone;
I want to try out tarp camping!! ...without spending a bunch of money and turn around and sell it. So,,, if anyone has an extra tarp laying around or a "make your own gear tarp" that there willing to sell/ part with for cheap I would greatly appreciate it. If I love Tarp camping (witch I really think I will), I have been looking at the grace duo tarp to purchase next year. As far as sizes I would prefer the 9X9 square tarp so I can try all kinds of pitch options. I have a trip planed for october 12-17; Thanks everyone and have a great day.

Joshua sent you a pm, also if you're going to try tarping with a bivy you should give John West a try. He makes a great bivy at an outstanding price. I have one, and have used it several times this year on trips right next to the more exspensive ones my friends had, sometimes they would have condensation, were mine was nice and dry. You can search him on BPL or on the web at Borah Gear.

One low cost way to try the tarp experience is to get a blue (or green or brown) tarp from the nearest building products store. Just be aware that the "size" stated on the label is the size of material cut (before hemming) and the finished size will be 4-6 inches smaller in each dimension.

It'll be a bit heavier than some other options but not so much to be a deal breaker for a test drive.

I've got a silnylon cat cut tarp that is 9.5 ft along the ridgeline and 9 ft across front that tapers to 7 ft at the foot. It's a Quest Outfitters MYOG project.
