So I bought a new 29er (pic below, 2013 Trek Superfly AL). I decided to get a Contour Roam helmet cam so I could take some cool movies of me crashing into trees and flying over the handlebars and such.

I was so excited when I brought the stuff home that I wanted to try the camera out right away to capture some cool footage. So I used a headband mount and 'mounted' it on my head, then got on my indoor rower and rowed for about 15 minutes! I was really rowing! But when I imported the movie, it was kind of boring. I can't figure out what I did wrong.....

I need to get higher handle bars so I don't have to look up so much with my bad neck, then maybe I would get back to riding for exercise after work. I've hardly ridden the last 5 years but for a few rides. Then too, I would have to install longer cables and in desperate need of new tires front and back and get the derailer adjusted.

Doug, you are doing it wrong. You are supposed to put the camera on the rower facing you so that we can see you grimace, get red faced, and sweat for 15 minutes. I bet that wouldn't be that boring after all.

Great first movie! I watched it for the full 15 minutes and am now all sweaty.

You should paint flames on the sides...


J/k ... 29'ers ride fine even without flames. Will take a little more quad action to get rolling but more exercise

If I also had a mirror in front otf my set up I would find it boring too.
Go out and buy the new 80" Sony 4K panel.
Get the River Wild on BluRay (there is nothing on 4 K right now...) and it will be just like being there without the flies.
No need to put up with rain,wind and smelly hikers.

And I bought a GoPro Hero, but then realized I don't do anything exciting to film with it.

It isn't as fancy as some of you boys, but it is a climbing machine (ok, I am, but it helps) ;-p and I can rip on a singletrack quite nicely with the KM's geometry. Steel frame is nice on our super technical and rocky trails.

I did notice all of you guys have very clean bikes..... what gives? Doug, did you take those reflectors off? Here's mine yesterday after my AM ride. You should see how nasty my chain and BB look, definitely due for a thorough cleaning. Currently im running a 32t up front and an 18t cog in the rear, its perfect. Im switching to a SRAM X9 1x9 setup soon for some bikepacking.

Not fair! I just brought it home from the store when I took that pic! And yeah, reflectors came off before the first ride.... ;-)
