Lightweight ground sheet recommendations? on 06/05/2005 06:19:09 MDT Print View

I just purchased the Henry Shire's Tarptent Squall 2 without the sewn-in floor. From what I've read, the Tyvek ground sheet that they sell on the site is overkill (heavy), though at 7.5 oz, it's not much more than the additional 7 oz of the sewn-in extended floor option.

Regardless, I'd like to get other recommendations.

Is the 2-mil plastic that they suggest on the site adequate?

Anybody know what the 5.5 oz option used in the BPL review of the tarptents was?

Would sil-nylon work? It seems to be what they use on the Squall.

I was hoping to get a Thermo-Lite All-Weather Survival Blanket as mentioned here, but it seems to have been discontinued.

What about one of those foil-like emergency blankets? I'm assuming those would be too noisy and I'm not sure about the durability.
