NeoAir pump

Therm-A-Rest must have heard the cries of tired hikers lacking the lung power to fill their sleeping pad at the end of a long day. For 2.5 oz (including 2 AAA batteries), you can have a small hand-held electric mattress pump. I am told that a full charge will give you anywhere from 20 - 25 fills. Each fill takes about 3 minutes for a regular sized mattress.

I've seen a similar product (Microburst Inflater) used with good results.

I'm happy to use my lungs for a small neoair but use an MYOG version of the BA Pumphouse for the large neoair and also for an insulated airmat (Kookabay Goosepad).

This is nice.

I've been getting by using a piece of very thin rubber hose (I think it's heat shrink material) that secures around the Neo-Air valve. It's about 8" long. The other end goes into an inflation bag of some type. I mostly pack with the HMG Expedition pack, which has a roll top closure with velcro, and I can rig the hose end into the roll top. It takes one big pack full of air to inflate the Neo-Air, then one or two puffs with my mouth.

That product looks identical to the camptek microburst, I use one and find it great. It also works very well to stoke a stuttering fire back to life.

Im thinking Microburst sold their design to the big boys. Good for them and hope they made out well as I have a good opinion of them when they fixed mine.

What is the noise level of this and how far does the sound carry? I don't want to spoil other's (or my own for that matter)enjoyment while I inflate my mattress. One of the reason I get out is to escape the noise from all manner of mechanical contrivances.

They are quieter than all the crinkling associated with the Instaflator. Really not too bad at all. 3min for a large Neoair. Turns a Backcountry Boiler into a forge.

Interesting comment..

I have been playing with my Bio Lite stove. The built in fan does make a huge difference to the burn rate.

I see that Thermarest is now also marketing the Luxurylite cots. (well done Bruce !!!)
