good running store in SoCal on 07/14/2012 17:10:46 MDT Print View

Can anyone recommend a good running store in the southern California area? I'm going to be doing a lot of running and I want to get fitted for shoes by someone who really knows what they're doing.

You have Roadrunner Sports right in your back yard in Costa Mesa. When I use to sell sell running shoes. Our competition back then was Roadrunner Sports mail order business we were a brick and mortar store. I have been to their warehouse outlet and the staff is very knowledgeable.

I have always tell people they are their best sales person when purchasing running shoes. Go to the store about 3:00 p.m., With your running socks and wear the different shoes you are trying on at least 15 minutes each in the store. Then weed it down to the last one or two shoes then 30 minutes each shoe and decided on the shoe you want.

Here's the Costa mesa store page with address on it.

Road Runner Sports - terrible customer service on 07/25/2012 10:57:00 MDT Print View

I just got terrible customer service from Road Runner Sports, despite being in their $30 a year VIP program. Evidently their inventory system can't even tell their customer service reps if they really have any in stock. If there are really none in stock, they cancel your order without notifying you, even if you ask them to call. Two days later you might get an email saying your order was cancelled. That's great if you have several weeks to play with when ordering new shoes, but it sure didn't work for me.

+1 for Road Runner Sports in San Diego, right across from REI.

Thanks for the suggestions and feedback. I ended up going to A Snail's Pace in Fountain Valley. A little pricey but good service so I'm happy.
