Nice photos Jay.I really like that spot, particularly early in the season. What a great place for a family-group hike.Hard to believe there's a trail up and over that ridge. Wait - there is one, right?
More than one way out of there David.
It is called the Sawtooth Scramble out of Caribou Lake. The TH is on Coffee Road-I think? Mr. Thompson will know. I did it back in the day coming down the scramble and it was VERY HARD! It would not be fun going up & over!
The only time I've been to the Trinity Alps was last years BPL/GGG group. Here's a photo from that trip, looking at the trail zig-zagging its way up the ridge (right in the center of the pic)Edit: heh, I think you all were there, too.

Yeah, I remembered seeing that zig-zag trail up the side of the ridge but then I wondered if it was my imagination.
Kat, Jesse and I climbed up from the Caribou lake side. pretty steep. Spectacular views though. There is an off trail route to L lake. Closer to the trailhead you can go up and over into Canyon Creek.
