How about these Jay, do they count? I tried to upload more pics, but it said, File size needs to be less than 5,000,000 bytes. Does anyone else have this problem?

"File size needs to be less than 5,000,000 bytes. Does anyone else have this problem?"

Well, yes, Everyone has the problem. Using 5Mb images where 100kb images are just fine consumes Huge amounts of disk space, and storage is $$$. Also, a small image will load faster, making the entire experience much more enjoyable. Jay's images are around 100kb, as are the two you posted.

Re-size them to 72 dpi, (or something like 500x400) which is sufficient for a monitor.

Those lakes don't have any normal names that I am aware of. They are named by numbers, and those numbers are the normal elevation in feet of the lake water. That normal water level is marked on the topo maps.

"What sort of camera did you use for these, Doug? Beautiful photos!!!"

Thanks very much DK! The last three photos were with my old Canon T3 Rebel and kit lens. The last photo, of Clark Lake #1, I used a circular polarizing filter. I also used a Giottos carbon fiber tripod and Manfrotto mini-ball head. Here is another photo from that trip...It sort of qualifies for this thread since it is the outlet of Thousand Island Lake. It's not the greatest photo, but I like it because it is me and my pup, Vixen, out enjoying the wilderness together. That's the awesome thing about a tripod, if you're a solo backpacker, you can get yourself. :)
Photo & Video Sharing by SmugMug

The first photo in that batch (Chicken Springs Lake) was taken with my newer camera, a full-frame DSLR, the Canon 5DII, with a 24-105f/4L lens. Since then I have replaced the 24-105 with a 17-40, and plan on adding a 70-200f/4L IS to my collection. I used to own that lens and was extremely happy with it. That said, my next backpacking trip will be with my new Sigma DP2M, which I'll receive next Wednesday...should be DSLR image quality in a much lighter and smaller package. I'm really a very novice photographer, but I'm a gear junkie, so I enjoy researching and taking along nice toys...much better than my skill level actually calls for. Haha

I don't have to look any further than this page to see examples of truly great photography, like Andy's photo of the Tarn in Miter Basin and Jay's photo of Marlette Lake, to see what I should aspire to. But all the same, you all are very kind to complement my photos, it motivates me to do better. :)
