Hey all. Just wanted to share this tumblr if you guys are into tumblr. ultralightgear.tumblr.com

Right now it's pretty standard stuff, but hopefully I'll add some neater unique stuff. Also feel free to submit your own gear or suggestions.

What is the purpose of this site? Reviews or just links. Not enough on there to tell. Never heard of tumblr till now.

Either eye candy or just ideas for new gear

I subscribe to a few Tumblr pages, mostly random stream of conscience feeds from a few photographers and artists. The Tumblr format works well as a platform for ephemeral subject matter- short hand blogging that's photographiclly centric.

'Cabin Porn' is one such Tumblr site feed that does it for me, don't be put off by the name, check it out- I promise the content isn't gratuitous as the name would imply.

Also check out "The Burning House" project (www.theburninghouseproject.com) which is a tumblr style feed that allows people to post a single overhead photograph of all the possessions they would take with them in the event of.....you guessed it, their residence were to quickly go up in flames.

A gear Tumblr as a photographic catalog could go on infinitely, where do you stop? What do you submit? Perhaps shift the Tumblr to themes focused on the lightweight life, whether that is gear, outdoor practice, lifestyle, dwellings, etc. Its amazing how much crossover and interconnectivity there is when you expand the idea of lightweight practice to beyond just ounces and gram readings with material objects on a scale.

Those are cool tumblrs. The ultralightgear is a work in progress. Right now I'm just posting things on it as I come across them, but I hope to evolve it as it goes. I hope people would send me some shots of their carry gear. Maybe someone here can take a nice photo of their gear laid out...
