Hi Guys,I have finally gotten around to making a dodgy prototype of the winter tent I have been thinking about for a long time now. More info at : http://hiking26.blogspot.com.au/2012/06/myog-winter-tent-version-065.htmlbut here are some pics...Suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks for looking.
very cool. What are you thinking in terms of entrance/vestibule?
What's the frame made of?Is the fabric a prototype or is that what it will be?
On his site, he says that that is just tyvek as a prototyping material, the final will be in .75 cuben. the short straight poles are carbon arrow shafts, the long straight poles look like trekking poles. the long curvy pole, I dont know. Adie
Hi guys, Thanks for the comments and Addie, thanks for posting some more info! The main center pole is also made of carbon arrow shafts and has so far coped with me applying some pretty full on pressure to it. Also I haven't yet decided on the entrance but will probably end up being a single or double front zip to save a bit of weight. Alternatively, I might experiment with a roll up vestibule/ entrance.
That's a nice frame design, Jeremy. The devil's in the details.
So true Sam. The devil is also in other little projects floating about!
