I just received a campus email about this. This is a student at UCSC and he was out on an backpacking trip organized by the University Rec. department. I hope he is doing ok and will soon be home.

About five miles from where he was last seen. No more details at this point.

Reuters reports that "His backpack and other gear were left at the camp." His becoming lost could have sparked from something as simple as a bathroom break that ended in confusion about the way back. Two days is a long time to be out with just whatever's in your pockets - glad to here he was found and safe.

Sigh....... Those slugs :)

So glad he was found! This time of year with snowmelt going on, lots of tragic things happen. Good news!
