Alpacka Packraft Plug Keeper - MYOG on 05/13/2012 08:57:06 MDT Print View

I wasn't sure if I should post this in MYOG or here in the packrafting community. Since it isn't breakthrough MYOG work I decided its most appropriate here.

I was frustrated with tangling line when using a cord to keep the plug tied to the boat so I made a simple widget that mimics the Nalgene lid keeper. Here's a link to the step by step:

Here's a photo of the finished product.

Don-

I guess I'm missing the purpose of this? It looks interesting and I'd like to find out more about it.

Kyle, when you tie a cord thru the provided hole in the cap it's prone to getting all twisted up around the cap when you screw the cap on/off since the cord is spinning with the cap. I've been using 1/16" shockcord and haven't found in a big nuisance, but this would be better because the plug keeper doesn't spin with the cap, so the cord doesn't get twisted and tangled.

OH, I see now. Yeah, that's a great idea Don. I'll have to incorporate that into my packraft whenever I have the funds to get one. Dan, thanks for the clarification. Happy paddling.
