I bought this poncho several years ago in my poncho period and it received a lot of use but is still in excellent condition. When I first started using it, I got tired of tripping over the front and had the front panel shortened and hemmed to 6' 6" so it hung right around my knees (I'm 5' 10" tall). If you are a poncho person or want to try one out, this is a great one to give it a whirl. It is nicely designed to cover your pack as well as you and it has tie outs on all of the corners so you can use it as a small tarp.

Here's a good write-up on the poncho at Hermit's Hut

I'm very interested, however have a couple question. When the poncho was hemmed, did you remove the webbing loops...and how does the shortened length affect the overall shape of the tarp?

Yes, the webbing loops were re-attached.

The poncho is normally a 8' x 5' rectangle. Now it is a 6' 6" x 5' rectangle.

I'm still undecided so guess I'll have to pass on it.
